Okay, these two parts are from

(I'm playing with fingers)

1) Metallica - Master of Puppets

The main riff, before the verse. Is it supposed to be played with three fingers? It follows the guitar, I think. Just can't figure how to play it!

2) Metallica - Battery

Again, the main riff/verse riff. How is one supposed to gallop D:

you can easily do both with 2 fingers, but i think cliff used 3.

do the same thing everyone does for every instrument to get faster, and get cracking with a metronome to clean up your technique.

also, the trooper is awesome for learning to gallop

Im not sure about 3 fingers, but you could use two easily and 'rake'.

That is how i would do it though.

Pluck the open E with middle finger. Hammer on the first fret on the E string. Pluck A string with index finger.

Tah-dah. That's how I play it.

In battery I swapped everything to just be played on the E string and went middle, gallop, gallop, ring, middle, index.

Ah, thanks Ziphoblat. Also, I heard the bass track for MOP, and heard that Cliff doesn't follow the guitar .-. in the main riff. He plays something easier. Lol.
