Hi there, first post on here. Nice to meet you all.

I don't know much about pedals, but i've been dying to find one with a similar sort of fuzz as these songs sound like. (one) (two).

As far as my budget goes i'd say roughly $50-$150. Just looking for a very garage crunchy sound. Anything is an improvement over what i'm using at the moment. Not sure where to begin looking, and I thought you guys could help. Thank you.

Hmmm, Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi's are great, heavy pedals for distortion/fuzz, but they're probably too smooth for what you're looking for.

I've never played one in person, but a Proco Rat might be more your speed.

Devi Ever makes some cool, gnarly fuzzes that might interest you. Maybe check out the Soda Meiser (http://www.deviever.com/fx/soda-meiser/). Heres a better demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y18qxfqhhQ

EDIT: Damn, since Devi went on a "hiatus" or something this year her pedals have suddenly become quite difficult to find. Hopefully she'll get her head straight and keep making awesome fuzz.

i have a RAT, i agree it might be a good choice. It's pretty diverse and can get really fuzzy with use of the filter knob.

as far as fuzz effects goes you can't go wrong with the fuzzface, i also have one of those and its just great, works best with single coils though.
