Just get some steel, or easily moldable metal (bronze maybe), from a scrap merchant and hammer out a rough spear shape. Cut a slit into the end of your wood, then attach the tip in.

Get a long stick, get a flat piece of iron, cut it into a long triangle, sharpen the edges, make a point, stick in the center of stick, wrap lots of rope around it to secure it...presto, spear.

It's impractical to make it like the greeks did cause you are not a blacksmith and have no access to blacksmithing equipment.

It's irrational to think that he is not a blacksmith, nor has access to blacksmithing equipment. Why jump to conclusions?

How many blacksmiths do you know who actually visit the UG forums, let alone the pit to ask how to make a flippen spear?
#12
Yes i made stuff like that at my grandmas before. Get a sturdy long stick, carve it down so its smooth and aerodynamic and mostly straight. Make a notch. Get a rock, chizzle it down into a spear head, get some rope, or cant you use twigs and skin them and weeve them into rope, and tie it down and wallah. Dinner for two

thats actually exactly what i expected from the pit. but as stupid as this question is it isnt the stupidest that has been posted on here

Buy long stick. Buy bronze arrow head, or cylindrical triangle.

I once knew this chick and well....here's a true story; I split her down the middle a little bit, put my **** in the split and lashed her with rope.

I find that equally funny as i find it disturbing

take a reasonably thick and long(lol) stick..Make it flat on one end and make like a space in the middle that goes through. Then, you take a rock and shape it like an arrow head. Place said rock in between and tie it together with some plants. make sure the rock is in there really tight. yaaa.

Everyones retarded. You get a stick and cut a slit in the end. get obsidian and make Into a spear then put the obsidian in the slit and get sinew and wrap it around the spear and stick. trust me, I'm native.

You have to use ancient methods? Kill a spear-wielding foe and claim his weapon as your spoils.

He's not trying to make a flippen spear, he's trying to make a sarissa.

I was a time served blacksmith for 10 years.
But I couldn't begin to explain how to make a metal spear head to someone who has no experience at forging metal.

This is a sarissa.

It's basicaly a 'pike', between 4 to 7 meters long, with a leaf shaped iron spear head at one end and a bronze butt-spike at the other end that would allow it to be anchored to the ground to stop charges by enemy soldiers. The leaf shaped spear head would be forged on an anvil with a hammer, but the bronze butt-spike at the other end would be cast using molten bronze, probably in a cast made of sand or possibly using the lost wax method, where you make the shape you want out of wax, coat it in clay leaving a hole at each end, then pour the molten metal in one end which causes the wax to melt and pour out of the other end and be replaced by the metal.

They were often made from two lengths joined by a central bronze tube, like tent poles are often joined together.

People who do battle re-enactments often carve the ends out of wood or some other material and paint them to look like metal.

Also, you'll need a really short wooden sword, painted as such so that it looks like metal.
Metal that has been left underground for 15 years.

Also, I want to learn how to be a blacksmith.

Yeah, it's an ancient method going back to, at the very least, the first century.
Pliny the Elder mentioned a Greek artist called Lysistratos of Sikyon and said that he made plaster casts from living faces to create wax images which were then used to make bronze replicas. It was mainly used to create small ornamental items, because it's pretty good for getting all the small details that you don't often get with sand casting. Infact, another way to do it is to fire the clay containing the wax so that it drips out first, leaving an empty void for the bronze to fill which apparently makes for a more accurate casting.

Yes they did. Infact spears were probably the very first projectile weapon, they were used by early humans along with an 'atlatl' which was used as a throwing aid that propelled the spear much harder and further than a normal man could have thrown one.

Ah, but UREH is for barbarians in video games, which is my element. Barbarians in games never use spears.
