Hey guys, haven't been here in a while. Here's a song I record in about an hour today, I tried going for a more lo-fi sound than my usual stuff so I used room mics for the drums, miced all the amps super close, and kind of just rushed it Anyway, I would like your opinions, I think it turned out pretty good. And C4C of course

This is sick man. I love the intensity at the end of the song; it really feels resolved. Just sometimes watch out for clipping, but considering the fact that it was recorded in an hour, the overall production sounds great. The vocals sounds especially good. Keep it up!
C4C?

Thanks for the crit! (https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1511964)

I'm the guy above ^, I already gave your song a crit.
I agree that my guitars sound muffled, I didn't exactly use a professional recording setup (I used a Rock Band USB mic xD)
I'm thinking of investing in an SM-57 though.

Sorry I didn't see you already had I just opened up every thread that looked interesting with C4C and crit them all in a sitting. And I used a SM57 on this, it sounds a little brittle too me and lacks the lower end I want just to warn you

I had completely forgotten your voice. As soon as I heard it, I immediately recognized it. It's probably one of, it not the most, unique voice on here. Thom Yorke + Andy Hull = You. The song itself is simply phenomenal. The production is also great. I wouldn't call it 'lo-fi', it just has a much more raw feel, which I guess has become almost a synonym of lo-fi, so just disregard this part completely Really, when everything is taken into account, this is really good. I'm listening purely for enjoyment at this point, not to critique every part. It's great, and is something I could (and should) really get into. C4C my inferior work? https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1512441

Unfortunately, I deleted mine, so I had to like it through my band's Facebook And I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more

Yeah a lot of people are doing that now, I don't know why you can't just not go on it but whatever And I liked your band too I really enjoy your sound, very bluesy and indie.

Thanks for your crit on my stuff (https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1511478), really helpful, man.

This is freaking good stuff, dude. Reminds me a lot of Radiohead, even outside of the vocals. Now, I know you were going for lo-fi, but the vocal clipping on some parts is really distracting. That, in all reality, is my only complaint. The sound is freaking awesome, as is the songwriting. Keep this shit coming. With a better mix, this would be fricking epic.

I don't hear this clipping you guys are speaking of, it gets a little distorted but that's kind of what I wanted at some points I guess I'll try listening again and try to fix it.

For a one hour work, it's impressive !
And as for the song itself, i really liked it. The ending was intense. The only thing i might complain about is the crash cymbal at 2:40, just at the start of each bar might have suffice, or it's just a matter or preference. ^^ i've already heard some of your stuff before, but i'm def gonna check the rest of your soundcloud account for your other songs.

Check my thread when you have some time.

I used a sm57 for the room mic and for the amps and a sm58 for the vocals, so nothing too fancy. And I had it as just on the first beat but it sounded even more repetitive that way and without it it sounded weak so this is what sounded the best to me

This sounds really professional man. Love the lofi sound. Vocals r perfect for the song. Guitars, leads, drums, bass are all great. This is a sick song man! The Chorus is really good, great melody. Has such an awesome intensity. Keep it up, this is something to be proud of!. Crit mine

Thanks for the crit, I shall definately take the singing tips into account. It wasn't my best vocal performance but that is my main problem - inconsitency :/ also I have actually got a kind of indie punk version of it recorded! (though not very well)

Now for your song, really good! your voice is interesting and the melody is stuck in my head, the guitarwork suits really well ( I particularly liked it towards the end) the song builds very well. Considering you recorded it in an hour the production quality is also good. Put simply, a great effort.
#17
Very impressed mate, despite going for a lo-fi sound, the production still stood out to me! There is quite a bit of clipping in the guitar tracks though. Your Voice fits this kind of song well, love how it builds towards the end! well done

is that ezdrummer i hear?

i think you captured the low-fi concept very well, and like someone else said, I'm hearing some my bloody valentine in there, love that

vocal was confident and very emotional, which is great. its a bit pitchy overall which actually works in your favor i think.. except for that note at 1:09. i like the melody, and i can hear what note you're trying to hit, but its just not quite there and at that point its like you're just yelling. to me it kind of ruins the payoff that would have otherwise been awesome.

digging the layered vocal part at 2:41

nice layering going on at the end with the guitar solo as well. interesting stuff, dude.

id also like to thank you for your comments in my thread, thats exactly the kind of feedback i was hoping to hear
#19
I don't think I'm really being pitchy I'm just singing for the style and I got the chorus exactly how I wanted it I'm on all the notes, I just go under and over because it's very 90's alternative/grunge/garage influenced and it wouldn't sound right any other way.

And it's Superior Drummer, get it right

Hey man
This songs pretty good.
The intro its nice and sets the scene for the rest of the track and the vocals are really good too (nice range and powerful)
I've always liked the raw sounding recordings as well, always adds more energy which you don't always find in them 'tight' sounding tracks.
I would recommend turning the cymbals down about though next time.
And finally I'm liking the lead at the end =]
Keep it up fella!

nice nice, sounds grat. yes you should turn the cymbals down a smudge, but i liked it
