Hey guys!

I'm planning on buying an multi effect pedal since i'm probably gonna be in a band soon so i wan't enough effects. I only own a distortion pedal now so that's not enough,

I have my eyes on the boss me-25 effects pedal now,
Should i stick with that or do you have other suggestions for me?

Post your thoughts

Zoom g3. You're not going to get anything better for under $200 IMHO.

And don't listen when people say "you need a new amp" because the g3 sounds great in front of any amp even solid state.

Here's something I recorded with the g3
Www.soundcloud.com/kutlessfromug/zoom-g3-test-1
Guitars: Fender FSR Standard Strat, Squire Affinity Strat, Epiphone Nighthawk
Amps: Vox AC15C1, Roland Cube 15x, Peavey KB-1
Pedals: Digitech RP355, HD500, Joyo AC-Tone, EHX Soul Food

Budget?

I'd look for a used Line 6 POD HD300, and then use it's models. You might be able to bypass the preamp on your Frontman, I'm not too familiar with it.

I'd like to stay somewhere around 200$,
I don't have lot of knowledge about equipment, but i don't think you can bypass the preamp in the frontman, oh and i also want something that can record my sounds,

The ME-25 is a decent unit, but you will be limited when playing live because the control switches have limited functionality. The Zoom G3 will give you great distortion sounds for just about any genre. You'll probably need an external expression pedal, which can be had for $30.

A used RP500 is another good option in the $200 range.

Find an RP355. The RP500 is of course a better unit, but unless you can find one used it's out of your price range.

I've personally never been too happy with the digitech stuff. There's always that weird buzzy sound to it's distortion patches that you just can't seem to get rid of no matter how much tweaking is done.
I did use An rp for quite awhile and after using it in a studio, I just couldn't deal with it anymore.

Boss' gt series is great for live use. Beer proof, clumsy, heavy-footed singer proof, and sounds great. Toured with a gt10 for awhile.

Im personally using line6 stuff now. I found a used xt live for $120. It's definitely worth looking into used multi fx pedals. You can get em dirt cheap if you look.

+1

The g3 is just a lot better sounding than the rp series IMO.

Ok guys thanks for the help all!

One problem though :P, they don't sell the zoom g3 here..
The only decent one here is the BOSS GT-8
Im willing to up my budget for that,
Is it good for gigs? I don't use a lot of different effects,
I just need heavy distortion, flanger, wah, and some good cleans

Should i buy it?

Nope, live on an island which protects it's own economy way too much, means that i get a shitload of extra costs if i want to ship it here, and they usually don't take orders..

You own a fm25r, are hardly upgrading to a vypyr 30, and are looking for a multi fx unit?

Don't do any of that.

If anything, just sell your boss pedal, sell your frontman, maybe save up for the vypyr 60 at least.
