I'm having some trouble getting my pc to connect to the Internet.
I have a linksys wireless adapter that picks up my dorms wireless Internet but it says it's connect to an unidentified network and when item to connect to it again it won't connect.
My iPod and my roommates ps3 work with the wifi

So it has something to do with my desktop

Any ideas or suggestions? I've taken out he USB and reinserted it and I've restarted my pc.

The last thing I was doing was downloading music haha and I woke u and it won't connect

Go into whatever sort of menu panel your wireless adapter has and select the correct network you wish to connect to. It is most likely automatically connecting to some shitty open unencrypted network, and not the proper one.

Best fucking troll ever. You win.

Also, do what that other guy said and see what network it's connected to. Most times it's that. The dorm's wireless might have been shut down, or reset, and the linksys picked up on a different one.

Networkcenter
Click on on the status of the connection
Then on properties
and look in the properties of the internet protocols one of them probably isn't on automatic.

It's connected to the wifi, it has been this whole time but in the network center it's stuck on identifying the network

Clearly, it does.

Now close the thread. Problem's solved.

Your router might be trying to connect to some other connection. Do you know anyone with a router you can use?

Stupid question, but did you enter your credentials? I've seen that happening on my laptop running XP before, with no obvious way to enter them (took a few clicks).

Alright let's try this again

My pc is connected to the wifi but not getting internet
But other devices are connecting to internet

Discuss!

Btw do you think my school could/would block my itnernet for downloading shit, there was never any terms of usage

Surely I'm not the only one haha

I'm guessing you're on a Windows machine. Disconnect from the network, go to the list of known networks and delete the network you're connected to. Refresh your wireless list to scan again, connect to the network, and it should fix the issue. Alternatively, reset the router.

Wrong, there are terms of usage. You agreed to them without reading them, somewhere down the road. Can you contact your schools IT support guy?

You're right haha I mean I just never saw them lol

I'll have to wait until Monday but I hope I can resolve this before then

Btw I dont know how to delete it from lists of known networks but I did "disable" it and then I selected it and connected to it but that did nothing

I'll also note that I can connect to he network via the network center but I get nothing out of the linksys program, which is what I normally use to connect with
