I'm not familiar with the BFR series, but I'm assuming by the name and other's posts that it's something like PRS Private Stock or something. If so, then daaaaaaamn I bet that's a sweet guitar. I really like the figuring on the top

beautiful. i really do not get it why people obsess over how 'pretty' PRS's are, when this looks way nicer to me. off topic for a sentence: i find the tops of PRS's ugly they are so overdone, i probably wouldn't ever own a PRS with a fancy top, it would have to be a solid color.

beautiful again. killer guitar. i am not a seven string person, but i love the six string version of it, JP-6, probably one of my favorite guitars, i would love to have one.

just awesome.

I had the same problem with my Fender case. I went about 200 miles to pick the guitar up. Played it, bought it, then got kicked out the shop cuz they were closing. Walked a bit to the car and I thought "Just before we leave, I'll make sure it's the right guitar". So I tried getting in to the case and couldn't. I havd no idea how to do it. So I went back over to the shop. The main door was now barricaded with loads of locks (they have some pretty old and valuable stuff in there) and tapped on the window. They had to completely unbarricade this door, undo about 5 locks, open the door, flick the switch on my case and then do everything all over again. That guy threw me such a nasty look despite me just dropping one and a half grand in his shop...

A JP7 would be my ultimate dream 7.

If you get accidentally murdered by me from jealousy, don't worry. I'll give it and the Mesa a good home.

I can't really compare this to a PRS Private Stock since I've never played one, but I'm guessing it's a pretty fair comparison. BFR stands for Ball Family Reserve, so it's the same concept anyway.

See, I agree, and I disagree. I love the look of PRS', and I love the look of Music Man guitars . If you look at my Torero (which is a PRS, lol), they don't really differ design-wise except for the binding and the knobs.

LOL, thanks hombre! It just goes to show that the amp is the important thing most of the time. I played my Mark IV for the first time on my Ibanez, and that's how I decided I needed it. It made my Ibanez roar, lol.

I mean, kinda. There was kind of a fiasco with this guitar, cause I had it for like three days and I couldn't figure out how to open the damn thing . So I posted the "story," and it's less of a tease cause I posted the entirety of the photos at once. Sorry though lol, and thanks man!

i know you're joking, but when my charvel came i actually didn't know you had to push the locking bits sideways it took my dad to figure out how to open it. I thought it was locked all my other cases open when you move the clasp upwards

ALRIGHT. Now for the review.

First lemme say that it's crazy how well made this guitar is. The first thing that I thought when I held this guitar was... well, the first thing I thought was probably along the lines of this, but yeah . The thing is a tank! EVERYTHING is sturdy and well made. Going from my Torero to this, the first thing I noticed was the bridge and headstock (here you go, Tom 1.0). The tuners are the best tuners I've ever put my hands on. Every minute turn you push them, they hold. I don't even feel the need for a locking nut. The same praise goes towards the bridge: it's comfortable, sturdy and REALLY well made. Not to mention the piezo.

As for tonality, I really am just at a loss for words. Now let me shower you with words . It's the perfect complement to my amp in that just SUBTLE differences can make really different tonalities and color your sound differently. I've found that I'm experimenting with my EQ on my amp much more than normal, not because I can't find a good sound, but because a lot of sounds are REALLY good and I wanna find the best one. It's a unique balance especially when you factor in the fact that these are passive pickups as compared to EMG's, which I love, which are on my Torero. I love these pickups too. They're REALLY responsive and the clarity I can get from them is crazy.

The woods in this guitar are fantastic, too. I've only played this guitar for probably less than 5 hours so far, but I'm really liking the alder with the mahogany tone block. It really blends the two sounds well, and I'm gonna be experimenting with a lot of different sounds.

(by the way, the neck pickup is insane for solos.)

Speaking of things related to the neck: I love the neck. It's thinner than my torero's neck, but it's obviously wider. It feels big, but that's just because it's a 7 string. It's REALLY ergonomic and smooth: I love the finished back, and the neck is pretty much flawless.

I can't really think of anything else right now, but I'm exhausted too lol. I must say though, I'm not giving it nearly the praise it deserves. This guitar is absolutely fantastic. If you have a chance, play one. Even if you don't like Dream Theater or John Petrucci.

Also, look forward to hi-res photographs this weekend/next week!

I might get another set for my rg7621 when i get some form of paper.

Yep, CL/LF. Every note is clear and pristine. I forget what earlier models had, though. A quick google search is your friend?

Also, "another set?" Do you have CL/LF's just laying around?

And Dave, I actually wasn't joking! I was seriously confused for about three days, I had to call the guy I bought it from to find out how to open the damn thing .

In terms of ergonomics, how do the JPs feel? Ive really been gassing for an EBMM, and i absolutely love the Axis save for my right arm is like...idk, too long to be able to rest comfortably and with proper positioning on the body, which is a dealbreaker for me. Is it the same as with the JP series?

Perfect.

I actually prefer the JP6s over any other Jps due to the arm cut, which is awesome.
