So I'm giving this young girl guitar lessons, and am teaching her basic finger picking. She knows most of the open chords, and can do a basic arpeggio. She wants to learn folk music, and Im not a big fan of folk, so Im asking if any of you could tell me some beginning folk songs?

Fingerpicking of course, and it could be anything from folk to country to classic rock, as long as its at a beginners level.
Well some great songs that almost everyone loves is
knocking on heaven's door-Bob dylan
Country roads-John Denver
Top of the world-Carpenters
Tears in heaven-Eric clapton
Beatles songs!

Never be afraid to let your student go
Why don't you ask your student what she wants to learn?
And no, Guitar Hero will not help. Even on expert. Really.
I would look at the first 3 Dylan albums because they are just him and a guitar. Peter, Paul, and Mary had some nice folk tunes, and maybe check out Woody Guthrie. That would give her some ideas about what appeals to her...
i found one that i think would be good, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by John Denver, thanks for the input
