Friends away to uni........no money........stuck in a shitty college course ahhhhh my life has became boring.

I mean I'm not a hermit, I love going out, socialising, drinking, dancing, it's just bloody hard to find friends to hang around with and go out with. When you're from a small town and go to a small college making friends is bloody hard, and finding friends with similar interests that aren't the norm is basically impossible.

I'm not just ranting, I want to know if any of your life's have become boring, or what you did to change your old boring life's. Or more importantly how you moved on from your high school mates, to a new set of mates without uni.

Another Friday night in the house is grim :/

Have some whisky, bro.

It's how I numb the pain.

Drink more.

This.

Pretty much what I did when I was a drinker. Getting wasted by yourself might not be the coolest thing but it can still be enjoyable.

Well I moved to the big city from the smaller city around it... So I see my family and family friends every weekend and party with them.
But friends at uni I meet mainly from wearing band shirts and that strikes up conversations. My main stoner friend saw me in my Death shirt and yelled "Hey metalhead!" and thus that started... Met a few girls from a friend of theirs who is a huge Motley Crue fan and she saw my Motley Crue sticker on my car, etc etc

Yes, I go to a small college, the only time I hang out with people is at work. My friends are all having kids and getting married. So i've been spending the last 6 months being a loner basically.

I just watch TV, read, excersize, listen to music, etc. when I have nothing to do. Most of the time i'm at school or at work so when I get home at night i'm too tired to do anything anyway.

I'll have some scotch for you

Have you tried going to the bar alone? It's pretty easy to socialize there, you can pretty much join any group for the night if you're friendly enough.

I think I'm in a very similar situation. I'm stuck on a pretty shitty music course which isn't teaching me very much, but I need that bit of paper with the qualification on it. Most of my friends have drifted away, moved to other towns or to uni. The friends I have dont seem to go out, so I'm more or less stuck at home most of the time reduced to trolling internet users and, heaven forbid, playing guitar. The last time I went out for a drink was before Christmas. The only times I leave the house are to go to uni twice a week and to restock on things like toiletries, food etc..

On the one hand I've always been a bit of a lone wolf so I don't always mind, but other times I do get a bit low and miss the socialising plus I got dumped last week. I'm trying out for a local band next week, and I'm keeping myself busy so as not to notice but it does get to me.

TS, you're not alone. Well, you ARE.. but you're not the only one

I've been to a few clubs on my own (I like obscure electronic music, not many people are into that and want join me >_> and there are always loads of good people at them. But I'm always the youngest there so it's a bit daunting trying to socialise with a groups of 25 year olds when you're 18 and a tad shy, same with bars I suppose.

I'm from a small town, all my mates are in uni, I hate my job...

But I'm happy. I found someone to jam with a few months ago and we get on so well. We have just written our first song and it's so good. I have a lot of faith in it.

I'm hopefully going to uni in October so that should brighten things up even more.

Funny thing is a shitty course can really demotivate you. I actually yearn to learn more because every time I go to college I just sit and surf the web because I'm never taught anything new.

But yeah sounds like a very similar situation to me, sucks.

Small town?

lol...bro

It will be worth the 9k a year for Uni, just to get my ass out of here.
My life consists of guitar, xbox, movies and msn/skype when I'm not working for my parents (unpaid) to earn my place under their roof.

Nice to hear mate

The sad thing is I got on really well with a lot of the people doing the music tech course I should be doing this year at the open day

HAHAHA, I thought I was from a small town too, but then I grew up.

Anyway, if you're stuck in a rut, shake things up for your own amusement; Just be more you, don't shake things up being a hassel to others, just, try new stuff or focus on the stuff you like.

Well I do live in a small town, but at least it's not in a deserted area I suppose.

And that's one of the main reasons I really want to go to uni, to get my ass out of this shitty town and live in a city.

My life is boring because I'm in a 9-5 job in the village I've always lived in.

My plan to make my life interesting is to take a TEFL course and work abroad for a year.

Go to Bristol. Serve drinks in a club to earn some change, then work your way onto the entertainment bill either as a producer or a DJ
It's what I plan to do anyway.
#28
Read, take a walk, make a delicious dinner, paint, write poetry, write a song, work out.

I would love to live in Bristol, I'm actually considering going to uni there if I ever go. Amazing music scene, and an amazing place to be a producer or a DJ.

My life is, largely, uneventful. At least I'm not stuck at home, though--living on campus at college. Unfortunately for me, most of my friends here are older than me, and some will be leaving next year. Eventually, it'll just be me and honestly I don't know wtf I'll do at that point.

So, I'm not there yet. But I will be soon. And I don't like that.

My life isn't boring, it's a living hell. You get used to it. But since you don't live in a shitcunt of a place you'll be alright, making friends is easy.

I find the last two interesting, as I was never able to write lyrics or music until I moved onto campus. It just hit me one night in the sheer boredom that I was experiencing. But then again summer classes just sucked. Two classes a week, each class was 3 hours. So boring, I hardly found the motivation to even go.

I guess you gotta go to it, and how good you are at meeting new people is also if you'd find a good place to crash... So you need not even live there, if you're good at it... I say, go to people, since people aren't near you.

I am awful at learning languages. I even failed horribly at learning Irish, but Irish is a bitch of a language to learn.
