Which bands do you think have let their fans down the most, either in terms of commercialising their sound, following a trend or just being lame.
#4
Oh god not one of these again.

Guns n Roses.

The fact that they are nearly always late. However, most people say they still put on an incredible show. But, if you say you're going on at a set time, make sure you do.

Biffy Clyro

I liked Biffy and did a support gig for them in 2001. i dont anyone could criticise them, they have just written more direct anthemic songs. I wouldnt say they were deliberately commercial.

There was a musician I quite liked who played in the place I work a while ago and turned out to be one of the biggest assholes I've had the misfortune to come across. That was disappointing.

This.

Like one time James Hetfield got a injury due to a pyrotechnic explosion, and Guns N Roses could have saved the day. But Axl Rose decided to say "**** it" and started a huge riot in a concert in Montreal.

Hardly anyone seems to like Incubus' latest two albums or Muse's last one.

I myself am okay with artists changing their sound and trying different things, except for when they only seem to be blatantly doing it for commercial success (I fully understand, but respect them less as artists), like Kings of Leon did.

So, KoL as well.

Bands should let their fans down.

...modes and scales are still useless.

No offence but get over it. Puzzle and Only Revelations are absolutely brilliant albums, despite the fact that they're a little lighter than the previous 3. Take Christopher's River from the first album, that was less heavy than Many of Horror by far.

I'll risk sounding like a fanboy and disagree with Muse. I don't like their new sound either, but they were already successful before their last 2 albums. I think their change has very little to do with commercial aspirations.
#22
Linkin Park, I liked their first album, the second one was ok but now they're a joke.
#23
Dance Gavin Dance, they're not stable as a band and have a different member every goddamn week.

Exactly. All their other albums are great. You can only go so long without making a bad album. Every band will eventually make a bad album. Saying the band let you down because the current album isn't as good as the older stuff is ridiculous. The older songs are still there and will always be great songs. The band probably started to make music for themselves and their own pleasure. I respect any band who continues to do that after reaching such a level of fame and popularity.

I understand people saying bands like Guns n Roses, because of Axl showing up to concerts late, but I think it's incredibly selfish to say that a band that has changed their style over time has let their fans down.

It's like they're saying "HOW DARE YOU DO SOMETHING THAT YOU WANTED TO DO? YOU SHOULD DO WHAT WE WANTED YOU TO DO."

I was never anything more than a casual fan anyway, but I know a bunch of people who loved them and felt let down by Puzzle and Only Revolutions, hence why I posted them in this thread.

Trivium. In Waves is just hilariously terrible. Also Muse; yes their old albums are good, but that doesn't make their new songs any less crappy, or disappointing upon hearing them.

Fair enough, I've liked Biffy since they brought out the Iname single before their first album and I have yet to be disappointed

Do you mean hybrid theory and meteora? If so, I agree. I bought minutes to midnight cause I was a fan, hated it, and didn't even look at the latest one.

I agree, but I think if you start making multiple bad albums in a row, or completely changing your style, then it's not cool. I think it's great for artists to tweak their sound, but some just completely move away from the stuff that made them so great, the innovation.

That song was written in the nineties, bro. Like, the early nineties.

I agree with this. When I saw them, they came on 90 minutes late, but their perfomance was well worth it.
