Bored, made a thread, i know there are many like it but this one is mine.

Anyway, see thread title, what bands do you think people should check out that, maybe they havn't heard before. I'll list some of my own that i've found and put the genres there, you can do the same if you like for your respective bands.

For me it would be some i got into more recently at least except for kyuss.

Nebula' (Desert rock)

Kyuss (more desert rock)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtrL4E9BVjE&feature=related

Electric Wizard (probably more well known but either way, 'stoner' rock,):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77uVmkb6oes

Bohren & Der Club of Gore (really good moody jazz, for walking the streets at night in a suit and fedora smoking a cigarette and trying to contemplate everything.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLsmLbliQcs&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L33XI7ZnNjQ&feature=related

Townes Van Zandt (badass old country music)

Don't know about Yuck. Only have one album and only the first and last tracks stood out to me. Definitely agree with Modest Mouse and Portishead though.

Kate Bush. Her last album for example was beautiful. She seems like someone a lot of people have heard of, but tend to look over in search of new music to listen to. Same for Leonard Cohen, but I haven´t heard enough of his stuff to recommend him myself.

Why bother. Everyone probably already listens to them because they are so awesome.

Junior Kimbrough's meet me in the city is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard.

Also Kyuss "desert rock"?

That's what i've always heard them called, i've always thought 'stoner rock' was a silly name, desert rock seems more accurate to that sound too. Sounds like desert music to me
