So, I just had an idea. What if you used one pedalboard for in front of pedals like od and distortion and had another for effects loop? Do any of you guys do this or know anyone that does?

I don't know why you would need 2 separate boards, why not just put them on the same board?

Ease of access? I imagine having one boards with delay, etc would be easier to tap tempos without screwing up settings. Just a thought I had while looking at adding a timebender to my board where I already have a dd-20.

Just get an external tap tempo switch?

You guys have it all wrong. 2 or 3 boards just isn't going to cut it.

You act like they are as big as a regular pedal.

But using a completely separate board for some FX is totally efficient.

The guitarist in Mogwai has three rather large pedal boards.

Josh Homme uses at least two and the signal chain doesn't necessarily flow from left to right or even on the same board - the pedals are place for convenience.
It's an opinion. It's subjective. And I'm right, anyway.

I ran 2 boards at one time, i was younger and really into incubus, but i also had 2 amps running a mesa for dirty and a roland jazz for clean, one board ran off the clean loop and the other off dirty, it was alot of tap dancing and too much hassle, so i bought a Lexicon processor, diddnt like the overall tone and cut down to one board and one amp, that was my chain of progression

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

I don't know anyone that does it, but I know people do.
You could put 'em on the same board, but if you wanna do two, more power to you

I have 1 board and I use OD's in front and have an FX running through my amp with all those effects on the board (delays etc) plus a tiny tap delay, you can make your own. There's a lot of wires but it's easy to tidy up.

theres 4 cables running to amp (including the amp control pedal) but ive just taped them together. I've found Ice Hockey stick tape pretty good for this.

I'd only use 2 boards if it was impractical to have 1 MASSIVE board.

That's what I was thinking. Why have one massive board when you could have two smaller ones?

I could see two small ones being better for transporting than one big one... of course, I think I've got too many pedals now and they all fit just fine in my pedal board case... I've got 9

Yeah, I've got 5, but with my dream pedalboard I could easily see myself with 15+ pedals.

I patched one for a mate's band before Christmas and he was running 18 all up. Half through the loop and the remainder through the front. It was bordering on the "heavy enough to mount castors" category, but still just about manageable.
