I'm changing the strings on my bass for the first time and I don't know what gauge strings to buy. I just bought GHS Heavy Boomers which went from .50-.70-.95-.115. When tuning them my nut broke so I rebuilt it and restrung my bass but the low string is very loose when I down tune. I'm thinking about getting Ernie Ball Power Slinkys which go .55-.75-.90-.110. I'm hoping to get a second opinion from some one who knows a lot more about this than I do. I also keep my bass in drop C for the most part.

The 110's should be sweet, which part of the nut broke?

and when you say you restrung your bass, after fixing the nut did you use theGHS heavy boomers or did you put th original strings back on?

Is it the F-50 your stringing down to drop C? I was stringing a F-404 down to C with Power slinkys for the last 3 years and I couldn't really advise anything else after trying atleast 10 different brands I always went back to them.
