Well pit, I'm auditioning for America's Got Talent tomorrow. I did a video submission and got past that so now I'm doing the real thing.

Have any of you ever done something like this?

here's the song I'm using btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUcbVBy_nGc

No idea what you're going on about but your song is rad.

Just saying I'm auditioning for the show on NBC, America's Got Talent.

I was wondering if anybody else had auditioned for it or something like it.

Dude! You have the skills I've been trying to get for the past six years now! I really hope you make it, because your song is hella sweet.
I've decided that my signature is terrible. I'm open to suggestions.

I'm thinking about doing a cover instead.... because they said they almost never take original music unless it's REALLY original. I'm hoping that song is enough, we'll see though.

Thanks for the comments guys!

why is it you have a better chance singing than playing an instrument?

Yeah, it's a damn shame. I can sing but no where near the way I play guitar so I wouldn't even chance it. I know it's a long shot, but hey, they liked me the first time!

Goddamn, your song is awesome.

But if you must do a cover, I suggest this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nY7GnAq6Znw

It's kind of in the same vein as your original (...kind of >____> ). Might be a bit difficult to play, though.

Damn that's a sick song, thanks for the link! I might try to learn it sometime. Definitely not for tomorrow though haha. It doesn't NECESSARILY need to be a cover, just popular. I've got Antoine Dufour's arrangement of Hide and Seek down pretty well and I'm thinking about using that.

Don't you only get 90 seconds to do your bit on tv? You'll have to cut a lot of stuff out if you make it further, unfortunately. It's incredibly stupid, because 90 seconds isn't nearly enough time for a good song to really sink in - especially a mellow one. Good luck, though.

Yeah my tape was 1:20 with the introduction and this audition will only be 90. I'm trying to just get to the tapping/percussion part and then end on a huge chord.

Have a cover ready as a back up just in case, you know? If they're like 'oh we'd rather hear a song we know...'

To be hypercritical and strictly talking about your chances to get into/go anywhere in this competition, your act is simply dull for that kind of venue. It's nice in some little coffee shop or day spa when the listener has had one too many benzos, but in front of a large crowd and on television, people are going to expect a lot more excitement and energy.

EDIT: To be clear, I'm not saying it's bad, just not suited for this kind of venue.

Why are you waving your right arm around like that? starting at 1:12

For some vibrato from what I can gather.

@TS: I'd recommend checking out Ocean by John Butler. Best of luck!

Because of this:

America's Got Talent winner's by season

Season 1
11-year old singer Bianca Ryan

Season 2.
Terry Fator, a ventriloquist who is also a singer

Season 3
Neal E. Boyd, an opera singer

Season 4
Kevin Skinner, an American Country music singer

Season 5
Michael Grimm, an American singer/songwriter

Season 6
Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., a Frank Sinatra style singer

Do you see a pattern here?

The competition is billed as variety acts but is geared more toward singers.
That was quite awesome playing TS. It just sucks how the show is setup.

If anyone is actually interested I can explain it further.

I have a hard time getting impressed by people randomly slapping their guitar, it seems to me to be more about how it looks than how it sounds. I think the song would've been better without the random slapping and knocking on it. I find it to be random wankery most of the time. Same with Andy McKee, does not impress me at all to be fair.
But hey, that's me.

Oh well, good luck nonetheless.
