So, i'm wanting to get into playing some ambient stuff (Jean michel jarre, ambient stuff,) and had a question.

Is a synthesizer a keyboard with built in controls or a module you connect to the keyboard? Cash converters has a keyboard for $150, but i'm not sre if i could play what i want on it (THIS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49g3t8d_ExY)

If not, how much would a new or second hand decent synth run?

Thank.

it can be both, and they're not cheap
a kaoscolater(sp?) runs about 300 to 400 and that doesn't have keys

Anyway....TS, if you get a midi enabled keyboard, you can hook it up to your laptop and have cool effects and ambient pads n shit.
