where is your problem exactly? do you hit the open E string when you strum? or do you have trouble fretting the A-shaped barre? or something else?

I learned to play these as two finger chords damping the bottom E with the tip of the barre and the top E with both indiex and third. Eventually my joints lossened or my precision inproved so that I could play the top E string too. When going form a E shape barre to an A shape bar I twist my wrist a little to change the angle of my fingers with the fret.

Left hand is ok but I often catch the open E string.

I just use the tip of my index finger to mute the low E. It takes a bit of practice though
