Hey I've been looking into buying a good semi hollow for under 500$ this summer. I've been really looking into the Hagstrom Viking II. Anybody got some good (or bad) stuff on this thing?

Well if it's anything like the Viking 1 or deluxe it should be an amazing semi hollow electric, I gave both a try and they sound amazing both plugged and unplugged.

My rhythm guitarist also uses a Hagstrom Vodka Ultras-sweed and it's a beastly little thing, really they company just doesn't know how to make a bad guitar.

Yeah. It's my cousin's main guitar and its an amazingly good instrument.

And despite the brand name, epiphone also has good semi's, much more consistant than there solid body line.

And Gretsch electromatics are great semi's as well. As well as the middle level Ibanez Artcore hollows.

Try absolutely every option you possibly can before going out and making the purchase, you never know what you will find.

Yeah, I have tried lots of Epis and really didn't like them at all.
The Ibanez Artcores i liked a lot.
I've only played 1 Gretcsh and it was a higher end one and i liked it.
I am probably going to go with the Hag or an Ibanez. Depends on which one i end up finding.
