Just got my guitar (Gibson Les Paul with Alnico II PU's) serviced and when I plugged it into my amp (Marshall JCM800 2203 100 watt head into a 1960 Marshall cab) I noticed there was a buzz/hiss (not really sure), it goes away when I touch any metal part on the body or strings and goes away when I turn the guitar volume down.

Any idea what the problem might be or the solution to it?

I was considering getting an ISP Decimator but obviously that won't help if it's a ground issue.

Help please!

That's what's supposed to happen, there's an earth wire goes to the bridge and you are the main earth, unless it's serious buzzing I wouldn't worry about it.

Pretty sure the player isn't supposed to be the earth?

Yes they are, that's why the earth wire goes to the bridge and the hum goes quiet when you touch the strings.
