I came across this the other day, and thought i'd share it with you. Some of you may have seen it before, but ahh well.

Some of the clips are acted and staged and are obviously fake; however some are actually footage from CCTV, helicopters, etc. so some of them are real. This kind of thing really makes me think twice about driving like a lunatic (which, i'll admit, I have been known to do on occasion) and really puts into perspective the fact that however much you think "I know what i'm doing, i'll be ok" or "naahhh that won't happen because [...]"; it could happen, and when it does, it probably won't be just the person driving stupidly that get hurt.

The music doesn't help you feel any better while watching it either, and i'll admit I did have a slight lump in my throat at some parts. I often find that the reactions/emotions of friends/bystanders/loved ones etc. get to me more than the people actually injured or dead, which doesn't usually bother me that much.

I think it should be complusory that this kind of thing should be shown to people before they aquire their driving licences. Or an extremely realistic and graphic film showing exactly what can happen in serious RTC's, starting from the actual collision, but also detailing events afterwards; including the emergency responces, what happens in the hospitals, the injuries people get and how they can change the life of said person, the legal/police/court side of things, and what families go through afterwards. Say, maybe, a half hour - an hour film showing the whole process, realistically, from start to finish.

Couldn't watch because of the God awful song choice.

They basically do show you this when you get your license, Red Asphalt is a video series of gruesome shit just to shock you into paying attention.

There's only one time I condone reckless driving.

On a race course, with professionals manning the vehicles, designed specifically for those conditions.

Beyond that, my heart goes out to those harmed by idiots who don't think a two-ton object shooting down the street at 50MPH warrants their full attention. The idiots themselves I have little to no pity for.

I was so drunk when I drove home last night I don't even remember doing it! Also, marijuana made my friend lose his mind and jump out a window.

I didn't, really...

I think it's fun when there isn't a risk of hurting anyone else's life but your own. If you want to be reckless, that's your choice. Don't let other people suffer from your poor decisions.

I really hate having scenes of worst case scenarios shoved in my face. I don't drive, if I did i'd just get pissed off, I know what can happen. Like i know what can happen if you play with matches, that doesn't mean i need to see some kid burning alive. Or drowning because of cramps after eating at the pool.

Leave me alone

This. Even in a rush, I don't run redlights, stopsigns, or speed anymore than I would otherwise.

I have to admit, I speed sometimes on highways with little traffic, but I'm never reckless.

I know what you mean, i felt exactly the same way.

This video definitely made me think of all the close calls i had while driving. But the thruth is, and i believe it'll happen with everyone, it won't really affect the way i drive.

This.
Vehicles are potential weapons.

I consider myself a fairly experienced driver, with above average driving skills and mechanical knowledge.
Still, one of the worst feelings i can have is an unexpected loss of control while driving, even if a very slight one. Usually it's hard to regain control of a vehicle, especially while worrying not to endanger anyone on/near the road at that time.

I have little if any sympathy for those who manage to kill themselves because they are speeding/drunk while driving whatever, but I absolutely hate them for putting other people's lives at risk. That's just horrible.

And I would expect the same for myself, I am responsible for my own actions, if I die because I'm reckless I have only myself to blame, or if I harm myself, I can accept that, I'm only harming/killing myself.

Did you just take drivers ed and link the video they showed you or something?

It's just what happens when you allow retards to have licenses. Most of this all happens in the city, anyways.

This is party my point. Yes, in a way you are, but think of those that you'll leave behind, and that'll miss you and grieve for you. Not nice. Yes you would have done it too yourself, but for those who love you, it makes no difference, you'd still be gone.

It is. But that's beside the point. I'm talking about the direct harm of myself.'

At least it wasn't that unbearably cheesy video of that cop crying because some girl he didn't even know ate guardrail due to texting behind the wheel.

gotta love scare tactics.

i don't drive so it's not a problem for me in that regard. as a pedestrian... and i frequently stand in the middle of a crosswalk when some dick is coming at me and not slowing down, hoping he'll hit me and i live so i can either kick the shit out of him or take that piece of shit to court.

Yup, that's what happens when people don't wear their seatbelts.

That persons injuries would have been horrific enough being just thrown out of the vehicle, nevermind being run over afterwards.

*sniff* do I smell sarcasm? I think I do. Your response would be warranted, however all you need do is step onto your nearest main road and watch it for a couple of hours and you will see that people DO drive like idiots, even if they know better.

Or, you could watch the video.

Which will also tell you people continue to drive like prats. So clearly, it isn't obvious to everyone that it shouldn't be done.

Well they can't.

I don't think he was taking the piss, I think he was pointing out to the other guy that it's a completely stupid idea to stand infront of a speeding vehicle, hoping that it'll hit you just so you can claim and/or hurt the person speeding.

Why does every idiot on youtube who puts together a "powerful" and "moving" video use that same awful fucking Evanescence song? Jesus christ, that shit is for tween goths, it's not even legitimate music.

Also, baby in windshield made me lol. In real life it would be devastating and horrible, but in the context of this video it was fake and hilarious.
