I'm going to get either the Fender Frontman 212R or the Acoustic G120. Which would be the better buy? Regardless, I will be using a Boss GT-10 as my preamp with either, so which would be best for that? Also open for suggestion

I have the 212R and love it, very loud and you get the Fender clean sound. The crunch and distortion are really even not bad, I relied on them exclusively until I got my Vox Tonelab for Christmas. Now I use the amp modeling for my distortion and crunch.

Crap. 1 for 1...I wonder if, at this point, I'm just comparing apples to oranges.

1. No one will want to help you if you treat them like shit when they try.
2. $500 you can get WAY better amps than those two.

If you're gonna be a wanker, go for it. Just keep in mind that your attiture might put people off from helping you.

Why would you use the GT-10 as a preamp?

Any special reason you want new stuff?
Because a used Peavey Ultra or XXX would be quite great for you. Or just get a Bugera 333XL. Those are available new.

What don't you like about your Nomad?

Out of the two that you listed, I'd go with the Acoustic, but if you could find a Yamaha G100, it would be even better.

I need something that is solid state so I can regulate the volume when needed. I love my nomad. I apologize for being rude, I was just looking for a straight answer, but if UG thinks there are better amps for my money, I'll look into anything.

The Nomad has a volume knob, yes?

If the soundguy wants you to turn down the volume so much that you can't get a nice sound (bedroom levels) he's a dick.

In that case, I'd see if you could find an Ampeg VH140c or an Ampeg SS140c, both of those would blow away almost every other SS amp in that price range.

VERY valid argument, and will notify said sound man. But this is for the sake of my apartment complex, more so as a courtesy. And I will check out those Ampeg amps...anything else?
