Hi, recently ive been looking at new guitars but i'm wondering whether it'd be worth upgrading my crappy Stagg starter Strat-style instead of buying a new guitar.

The strat is decent-ish ( i believe its an alder body; nothing special & its a bit rusty but i can clean that up) & would it be worth like putting in new pickups & maybe a new bridge & tuners to just kind of buff it up a bit??

I'm in a kind of hard rock/punk band & play anything from blink-182 to bullet for my valentine :P

Also, if i should get another guitar can you send me links?? (i'm a lefty just so u know XP)

thanks

Definitely get a new one.

Staggs are basically the bottom rung of the guitar ladder. With your budget you can climb about halfway up.

You'd be far better off and would definitely not regret it. The easiest suggestion is something like an Epiphone Les Paul, but I'm sure someone else can be far more imaginative than that.

Think that's only on the lower range models, but not too sure.

Would you go used though? You could probably get a Gibson LP Studio for that much?

My personal favourite with that budget would be a Gretsch Electromatic, but they aren't very punk-ish.
