Hello pit

What songs/compositions repeatedly inspire you and/or make you feel like shit due to its awesomeness?

This song makes me feel so inspired to compose and practice more yet makes me feel like I'll never ever write a song as awesome as this(or perform it for that matter)

nothing too insanely crazy/technical, but i've always loved this song and it always reminds me in the most beautiful way that a well-written song can be so much more than the sum of its parts, no matter how those parts may be.

Anything by Guthrie Govan. I'll listen to something and think "I feel like playing guitar and writing something awesome like this!" And then when I actually start playing it's just embarrassing how much I suck compared to him.

This album made me extremely depressed for a little bit.

This and any PTH album tbh. I can play most of them, but to actually sit there and create those works of art? Christ..

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to something by Charlie Parker and then tried to play the same thing and end up being amazed by how damn good he is.

Not so much eruption but definitely agree with you on dire straits. Sultans of Swing is just so intricate and insane when you really listen to it. Knopfler is a beast.

I think that the solo work by David Gilmour is brilliant, and it ironically both inspires me to become as great a musician as he and also forces me to realize that that will never be reality .

This. All of those make me feel shit from a composition point of view.

Imagine being able to right write something like the final movement of Shostakovich's 5th?!
