I honestly don't 'get' any of these videos or find them funny / entertaining in any way, shape of form.

I have officially stopped being "in touch" with whatever generation is coming up after me. This is by far the stupidest thing I've seen on YouTube. The fact that it is referred to as "poop" and "poopers" is somehow even stupider than the videos themselves.

The people who make these are perhaps some of the most intelligent people on youtube (well, aside from the ones who just bleep everything or insert overused memes). It's (in a way) a legit artistic movement that's attracted attention from some academics, such as this guy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ai25963a99g

Of course, many of these artists themselves just consider YTP teenagers fucking with video editing software, but there are some people who take it seriously. The only reason one would find it stupid is that they're not used to it; some of the jokes that are made take more wit than the average comic has.

And don't get me wrong, I hate the name. And would never have the patience to make one myself. Some people spend 15 hours per day making this stuff, which can be overkill for something that will never see much success. And a few people who are your age or even older (I'm assuming) are into it - they're usually the ones taking it seriously, but they're able to manage a job along with it.

Yes, because if you don't find them entertaining, nobody does.

Yes, because if you say they are entertaining, no-one can express disagreement.

I haven't said a word to them. That's because they expressed how they don't find them funny. Zoot on the other hand seems to think that just because he doesn't find them appealing, they all must be awful.

I agree. Remixing is an artform. But YTP is a very mixed bag. Some of it is awesome, some of it is dreadful.

It's pretty clear from the context of what both he and I said that they are expressions of views. You don't need a stonking great THIS IS MY OPINION IMO IMO flashing neon sign to figure that out, and getting wound up about the sign not being present is a bit silly.

No, it wasn't. Not in the least.

Take this example:

"I don't like this band." =/= "This band sucks!"
