Okay so I've got a new pc and I'm using my older interface an m-audio fastrack usb mk2
It ran fine at 256 samples 16bit 44khz but now on my much faster windows 7 64bit machine it has major issues with cracking and popping.

Whats the deal? can anyone help me narrow it down???

MY Logic says the faster pc should have less delay and problems with processing the audio...what gives?

Trying increasing your buffer.

I've tried this but to no avail, and tbh this system should run 128 sample buffer I mean its got a i7 2600k in it

Okay so I turned off the power management stuff

Got rid of cpu throttling and my turboboost and still getting this error.

I've noticed that I only hear fragments on plugin instruments could this be due to using x86 plugins on a 64bit machine and not having a setting correct? If my pc were being overloaded or needed to reduce the sample rate the rest of the file would still be getting fragments etc but its only plugin channels

any suggestions?

Hey guys just an update to see if anyone here can help me.

I've contacted avid support and 20 emails later and about 60 settings still no change in the poor performance I'm experiencing on my high end system.

Went through the entire database step by step with the tech support.

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=349411&Hilite=optimization+Windows+Guide

zero change.

also note there are no IRQ conflicts

This is my DPC Latency Checker readout a cool 25

Symptoms - crackling at 128 and unusually large delay (almost double 16ms) at 256

MY pc's full specs are here and you can see I should be able to run anything at 128

Intel Core i7 2600K(3.40GHz)
8GB DDR3 RAM
1TB HDD
AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit sp 1

Can anyone out there with the know how help me? Avid support has jumped the shark on me. Should I just buy a new interface???
