I recently got a new Fender Tube Amp, it was suggested to me that i take it to get biased before i use it to get more out of it. Reason was amps ship at a lower output from factory and could be set higher (forgive me if these are not the correct terms, i am new to the world of tube amps) When i checked with the local shop that does it they said there is no reason to bias an amp unless there is a problem or i swapped tubes or something. Thoughts?
I check the biasing on everything I touch. What amp?
Fender Limited Edition '65 Deluxe Reverb
OK, just wanted to check how it's biased. Those are a standard adjustable fixed bias with a trimpot. I would definitely check the biasing. It's something you should learn how to do yourself if you don't know already.
get a bias probe. safe and cheap.
thanks for the advice. i will read up on it and do it myself, i am fairly handy with electronics but have no experience with tube amps.
311's blog on the subject is worth reading.
