Wrote this today. Wasn't sure where I was going with it, not sure how it turned out. Feedback, please :-)

We sat on a log,
Watching the fire burn.
The embers floated into the sky,
Like the fireflies we used to catch
And put into jars.

You made me a s'more
After I told you I've never had one.
Everyone else laughing at me is a small price to pay
To see your bright blue eyes watching me take a bite
Of what you think is my first s'more.
You've prepared it with love and
I've never been happier.

We watch a storm roll in over the cornfields.
The clouds high and black against the setting sun.
We watch awestruck, my arm around you,
My coke perspiring in my free hand.
We go inside.

Your friends watch us as we lay on the floor,
A Japanese horror film muted on the TV,
A blanket over us.
We kiss softly.
The only sound is the soft pitter patter of rain on the windows.

Yes, I remember.
I roll a cigarette on the dock
Where we'd come and you saw a shooting star,
And I said make a wish,
And you said it came true: our love.

I remember,
When I came to your house,
First arriving engine,
But it was too late.
The embers floated into the sky,
Like the fireflies we used to catch
And put into jars.

I light my cigarette,
And the embers float into the sky,
Like the fireflies we used to catch
And put into jars.
