I'd quite like to know if there are any major differences between these guitars (other than the price) which will help me make up my mind.

Basicly it comes down to build quality. The Necks are where you notice it most. The electronincs are next then the hardware. What I would do Is just get a used prestige and skip the base models you can get a used prestige for the same price ans the new rga42. I got my Prestige rga121 for 500 used and its the best purchase I've ever made.

As a fellow RGA121 owner i must agree, indo made ibanez are ok, but not worth buying new (at full price) when you can snag a prestige that's a few years old for the same money
