Just bought a Randall RT 100 Head and after hooking it up, nothing comes out of it. It starts to hiss and the hissing gets louder and louder. It is rated at 4 and 8 ohms and so is my cab. Any thoughts on where I should look?

...you have the cab hooked up with a speaker cable right?

This is terrible advice. Even worse than the useless dry, sarcastic comment I made.

Yes, and switched it over just to make sure it wasn't bad. I am guessing something wrong with tube(s)

Maybe. try swapping out the preamp tubes.

Make sure the ohms match. You said 4 and 8 on the cab. Make sure you know what the cab is wired at.

With that aside, check the amps fuse, all cables and guitar.

Then Buy new tubes, more than likely you need new tubes.

How would a faulty fuse make it hiss?

A preamp valve might have gone microphonic. Or just bad.

Yeah, it's time to try your spare tubes - if you've ruled out all your cabling.

fixing tube amp problems are a lot like fixing car problems..You just keep trying shit until the problem stops.
