Deleted the other one to get rid of the nasty image.

Anyways:

So I came across this article of the NY Times about education, marriage and relationships in general, and how the rise of female education in western countries has affected them.

What caught my eye was this list of traits that men find attractive, and I was curious to see how accurate people found this average list to be.

lol at education and intelligence being the same category.

I have dozens of friends with no further education after 12th year here in Sweden which you're done with at 18 years old who are some of the most clever people I've meet in regards to most anything you can talk about.

Exactly what I was thinking. Lumping those two together is what gets a ton of lucky morons further in life than smart people who didn't go to college.

Wow. This is really annoying.

All I saw was some burnt skin and I just scrolled past hoping to not see the rest of it.

EDIT: If you look at the way things have moved about, we've kind of polarised ourselves from what people wanted in 1939.

That chastity one is funny though

I edited the diagram, maybe its easier to read;

But boys will be boys and girls have those eyes
that'll cut you to ribbons, sometimes
and all you can do is just wait by the moon
and bleed if it's what she says you ought to do

Better still;

Think there's a correlation between that and rising divorce rates?

I always figured they are going up because there are more people in the world and it's getting easier to get a divorce.

Hey Hydra, thanks for the first edited one!

No problem, I found it hard to understand and it looked easy enough to fix.

It shows how there is more equality between the sexes these days (we dont expect her to do all the housework and cooking, and want her to be smart so that she can have a decent job/conversation).

It also shows how society has become more liberal - the freedom to marry (then divorce) those from different political/religious backgrounds and the chastity thing show this.

Perhaps attractiveness becoming more important is a symptom of the media bombarding us with images and idea of beautiful people, making society more superficial and judgemental.

no, I think the correlation with divorce rates is more related to the top choices. there's less emphasis on dependable character, maturity and disposition. love trumps all for people raised on cheesy Disney movies. and anyone in any relationship knows that eventually the lovey dovey feelings go away.

More because of things like looks rising to the top. That makes for a solid marriage.

I think that probably has more to do with the decline in good housekeeping and cooking.

Why rolleyes? If you're not attracted to the person physically, how the hell are you going to live with waking up to them every morning for the rest of your life?

Yeah, but just consider that both men and women often find it acceptable to cheat on their spouse, rather than working it out between each other. I mean, no one wants a cheater as a wife/husband.

The top one says a lot about how picky we are. All we want is somebody who likes us back.
I shall grant you three wishes.

None of which will work.

Does the above post enrage, offend or confuse you?

Good.

Isn't that a good thing? That's kind of the cornerstone in a relationship. But maybe that one should be a given.
