is the transparent OD a specific pedal or a type?

Transparent is just a quality found in some OD, sometimes its a listed feature sometimes not. It basically means it doesnt color your existing tone, but instead just does what an OD should. Colored OD IMO would be a TS808 or any other Tube Screamer clones, a Fulltone OCD is considered a good Transparent OD. Also some of them color your tone in a way which you might want anyways. For example a TS808 etc tends to add extra mids.

I use a Hardwire CM-2 by digitech, but Pro Guitar Shop has videos of a whole bunch of ODs to listen to, and the Guy who makes the vids usually mentions how transparent it is etc.

I've never really thought of the OCD as transparent. When people say transparent they usually mean something like a Timmy or a Klon. For high gain, I'd go for a tube screamer, but I kinda doubt you'll sound too metal gain-y with the NT more like Soundgarden or something.

lol an OCD is much less transparent than a tubescreamer. unless adding boomy bass is considered transparent.

most transparent overdrive out there? Timmy, hands down.

Well Transparent is something of an opinion honestly, i just googled and ended up with the OCD lol. Always see opinion based talks about whats transparent, whats not so i just find an OD that sounds nice and go from there

I think my Hardwire CM-2 is pretty transparent, my Sparkle Drive doesnt IMO...

Thread been Botted...

EDIT: and someone quickly snuffed him
