I purchased 2 sets of Earnie Ball 2223s to restring my guitar for the first time in 2 years and it didn't go over too well and I need more strings.
When I first asked I said, "I need Earnie Ball 2223s" and he was doing longer than I thought was normal so I then said "the pink ones", which was faster.

Next time should I just say I need Earnie Ball 9s? Is that how you do it? Thanks

Don't say "Ernie Ball super slinkies, the ones that come in the yellow package", because it's code word for meth.

In my guitar shop you're allowed to just get them from a rack.

Is there some kind of prohibition going on with guitar strings?
'You can only have these 13.s if you can play Free Bird.'

I guess that's understandable. For their small size, strings can cost quite a bit.

I find it easier to just rob plectrums from the racks
My friend once took like 10 picks, yet somehow he always asks me for one

I usually order my strings off the internet. When I buy them at a store I usually ask for the gauge, since it's written clearly on the packaging. I usually go for the D'Addario 7-string light gauge, myself.

I ask for D'addario 10's or whatever it is I'm using. I'm not a nerd enough to notice a difference between the brands. Just the thickness.

Elixers are overpriced and I can't stand the feel of them.

Dunlop heavy gauge is what real men use.

I usually go with

"My good sir, I was taking a leisurely stroll out this fine morn and I happened upon your store, containing a most exquisite selection of strings for my collection of stringed instruments. I would like to inquire as to whether I might purchase some that I would find suitable for the strangulation children?"

Pfft. I've got super-oily fingers so anything not coated goes bad within a week, even with proper care. I've tried D'addario and EB coated strings, but Elixir strings simply do the best job.

I had a friend who was held at gunpoint as a cashier. The robber told him to give him all the money in the register and what not. Apparently my friend then replied, "Would you like a slurpee with that?"

I do son, I do. Elixirs at 10 bucks every two months is just a better investment to me than spending 5 bucks a week.

Well then, just learn to love the tone of dull strings. It's good for sludge, drone, and stoner metal.

I restring all my guitars at once, every couple months.

You must've used the Polywebs. Polys suck ass.

LIF-O-DIT: And all the guitars I've tracked for this release use Elixir Nanoweb strings, gauge .10.

I don't think they're particularly dull sounding at all.

In my experience, it goes <brand name> <1st string size> to <6th string size>

Ex. "Sup nigga, can a brotha get 2 packs of D'addario 11 to 52s?"

The shop I go to has the packs out for you to grab them then go pay. Always Elixir 10-46. I think there like $30 a pack but I love em.
