Hey guys I recently came across an article about a LED box that can activate with sound from an iPod or something similar..

http://www.instructables.com/id/Music-LED-Light-Box/ *Link to that*

And it made me wonder if it is possible to make the LEDs react to a guitar signal. Now I'm not great at electronics and such, and I'm turning to you guys to see if this is possible. If not I'll probably just end up making the original one activated by iPod. So does anyone know how you might make it activate from a guitar signal?

Thanks in advance!

There already is something like that on Instructables.

Somewhere in there.

if you want it to be activated by the guitar signal itself, your gonna need some form of voltage boost from what I understand pickups don't make enough signal to make an LED even try to light.

Ya I think I may just end up using the iPod one as I'm not sure I'm gonna find an answer. Thanks for the help guys

A darlington pair transistor setup might be sensitive enough to work right out of the pickups.
Might be pretty cool to mount the LEDs in the head of an amp.
