I am having a little issue playing a certain tab, because I am not sure how to correctly do it. I've been searching over the internet on how this particular instruction is meant to be played but I've come up empty handed. The tab in question is:

----------------
----------------
---5------5---- with a curved line connecting the two notes on the top.
-----------7---
----------------
----------------

Do you do a slide down from the 5th fret to the 7th (1) and then play the 5/7 (2) together? But then wouldn't that be the same as:

----------------
----------------
---5\\7---5---
-----------7---
----------------
----------------

and then you're playing two notes independently fast, where I thought the line connecting the two notes meant to translate a fluid motion. Is this perhaps some sort of hammer-on, pull-off or something of the rather? If anyone has any insight into how this should be played any help would be nice, thank you!

Can we hear the song in question? Just like that I would say you play the 5, and with the 5 still ringing just add the 7 in.

but then would I not just be playing a 5-7 hammer on? because the second "beat" is two notes played together, i.e. a 5 and a 7 together.

You say its a curved line, so my vote is for it being a tie. But wats the tab in question? You would get a better answer if we knew that.

The tie thing might make sense, just so I'm sure I'm getting this right.. this would be played as follows:

----------------
----------------
---5-----(5)---
-----------7---
----------------
----------------
where I play the 5, then on the next beat I play the 7 while the (5) is still ringing. But then a question is why wouldn't the tab just state

----------------
----------------
---5-----------
------7-------- where this is played faster?
----------------
----------------

That seems the most reasonable thing I can think of, and you're sure this is the method to play it?

Play the 5 then play the 5 and 7 as a chord together after.

Or use your ears for fucks sake. You have them for a reason. Play what sounds right.
