TBH, most DAWs should work if you're just doing basic recording, but if you plan on doing full mixes, I doubt that processor would be able to handle very much plugins.

Depends on what OS you're using. ;-)

I wouldn't want to do too much heavy lifting for audio on a machine like that running Win7, but if you don't mind using XP, you can do a LOT with that.

My band did our album with a single-core Celeron 1.7 Ghz machine and maybe 512MB or 1GB of RAM. Each song was upwards to 36 tracks of 24-bit audio, including processing as appropriate.

I use Cubase.
