string B & G..

harmonic minor
pinky 7 index root ring 2 pinky 3

When I lift the pinky off 7, it makes a noise, I'm having a difficult time muting it with my palm. But teacher doesn't mute anything, it just sounds really clean, he says I might be pulling off, but I've tried lifting it as straight as possible and it's still noisy. I don't understand how he does it. What kind of sorcery is this... (insert meme here)

it could be that you don't have the right gloves on.

Is it B harmonic minor? Playing this:

e|---------
B|-7-------
G|---4-6-7-
D|---------
A|---------
E|---------

Use left hand muting. Mute the B string with your index finger of your left hand.

Junior's usually at least a little terse, but he knows his stuff. I've always read his posts in a grouchy grandfather voice, a grouchy grandfather with a huge stiffy for alternate picking.
Besides that, he's right this time. As usual.
