Hey all.

Have £200 to spend on a new Amp and preferably overdrive FX pedal.

I play mainly Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, Nirvana stuff.

My guitar is a Pacifica 012 w/500k pots and a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Slash pickup in the bridge.

Am thinking:
FX Pedal - ProCo Rat 2 - £63: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/proco-rat-2/5435
Amp - Roland Cube-15XL - £85: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/roland-cube-15xl-guitar-amp-combo/41346

Or maybe a Vox VT20+? http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/guitar_amplifiers/vox/vt20/index.html

Basically just want the fullest overdrive sound possible. Don't wanna deal with used kit since this is a hell load of money I'm spending.

Cheers all

EDIT: For the record my current gear is a Marshall MG15DFX, DS1, and Line 6 Pocket Pod. Shocking I know.

If you're getting a modeling amp like the VT20+ I wouldn't spend money on an overdrive pedal, get the VFS-5 footswitch. If you don't want to experiment with a lot of sounds I'd say you should get a small tube amp like an AC4 and pair it with an overdrive.

So many choices haha.

Is it worth taking the tube amp route and spending £200 on a valve amp? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUCI8WOJ16g the emulated output on that sounds amazing.

Right now I feel it's a shootout between the Peavey 15W Vypyr, Roland Cube 15XL, and Blackstar HT-1.

Gonna mull this one over for some time, I need to be really careful about what I spend this cash stash on. Being a college student stuck for money sucks.

What's the word on the Special 6? I'm actually looking at getting the Ultra head... but I havent been able to convince myself to buy it yet.
