Hey guys, I just want to show you some pic's of my work in my spare time of the last days. My motivation to do this, was... uhm I dont't know, I like green.
Please tell me what you think about my new old Ibanez RG270
So here we go:
1) The old look:

2) After one afternoon rasping off the old finish:

3+4) Grinding the whole finish and applying varnish

5) Spraying the first green layer

6) And also the front side

7) After five layers I let it dry

8) Thats the result

cheers!

Ffs. I painted my mij rg470 the same color (maybe brighter [fluorescent])last weekend before stripping it off cuz it was badly done. Was gonna repaint this weekend. Mine will be frankensuperstrat'd and pretty rough tho, I suck at painting and cant be arsed to fill the grain. Looks nice!

to be honest, I didn't check the weight of my guitar before and after, but it feels almost the same If it's not just and illusion, I think the guitar sounds tiny more free and breezy.

Yeah I thought about buying the green DR-Strings. Maybe next week
But changing the PU's to green would be pretty expensive, or is there any way to change the Humbucker-Covers?

Hey StonedColdCrazy please post pictures of your guitar when it's done, I'm curious how it will look like

Cheers!

Personally would have left it with the natural wood, no colour or anything but whatever man, it still looks pretty awesome

I would have left it natural. Looks like you did a good job though.

I'd go ahead and wetsand that green and apply a few coats of clear gloss over it. And wetsand/buff it out to a nice sheen. Otherwise looks great!

Nice work man. That's an incredible job.

Just wondering, what kind of paint did you use, and did you use a clear coat or anything to seal it on?

I used, I hope nobody knocks me around now , an average finish from my local building center. It is one with dissolver base.
Yes I sanded the whole old finish until there was only wood and sealed it with some layers of clear varnish (that it normally used for cars )
You see nothing special about giving a guitar a new finish.
I'm thinking about giving another guitar something like a sunburst That would be interesting I guess
