Hey y'all, a possibly good idea has come to mind. A lot of music from nowadays is sampled from previous work, while this is all good those samples can come from good ass tunes. This is where (possibly) we can link to those songs, and maybe broaden music knowledge.

Example:
MF Doom- One Beer

Samples this
Cortex- Huit October 1971

Another
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z66wVo7uNw
Which Kanye West's Touch the Sky sampled.

Post away pit.

Eh, people can still post songs if they think they're worth mentioning rather than just being samples.

Luiz Bonfa - Seville
Gotye's Somebody I used to know samples this.

Actually, if you want to know anything about sampling at all, listen to this whole album.

Girl Talk. his live stuff is mashups and i guess his albums are, but the clips are usually short enough thattheyre more like samples than full song mashups.

There's that one Kanye track that samples "Sing Swan Song" by Can.

:-(

It's not that I have anything against Mr. West or his genre, it's just, like, it's wrong to make their heavenly psychoactive gift into some playful hippity-hopping piece. Can is the only unequivocally sacred band in that regard.

One of his worst on one of his worst albums.

But I think it's cool that Kanye has a wide enough variety of taste in music to include Can.

I don't like that sentence, but I'm not fixing it.

was going to post Move On Up

Lost in the World by Kanye samples a Bon Iver song called The Woods. I prefer the Kanye version though, personally. A nice reinterpretation of it.

That's a really common drum break, you hear it in loads of drum and bass, a bit of dubstep and a lot of hip hop.

Samples this; (Peter Fox - Alles Neu) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD0A2plMSVA

Which I think it's a pretty good song. Despite not knowing German.

I liked it too, the lyrics are pretty inspiring translated, the first two verses are great http://lyricstranslate.com/en/alles-neu-everything-new.html-0

I know they sampled "The Ocean" on "She's Crafty." Gotta love the Beasies, they just know music.

IMO, the best samples were that early 90's era Tribe/Public Enemy production that was so dense you couldn't even make out a single sample.

This is how it should be done for the most part but some samples seem to have become instruments of their own too (get a simple sampling program and the amen break and funky drummer, have lots of fun).

If you go through the entire album on wikipedia and see what's all sampled, you'll automatically fall in love with the Beastie Boys.
