Hey, im just wondering are you eligible to make money on youtube if you have covers that are different from the original? as in if you did a metal cover of a pop song?
i think how it works is you get a partnership, and you get paid an amount of money for each view, plus the advertisement on some peoples videos gives them money, as well.
You would, of course, have to subtract from your earnings the cost of licencing the songs you are covering that you would have to pay to the artists' publishers. (who would pass the "artist share" back onto the artists themselves)

See the "copyright for dummies" thread found under the bandleading subforum under the Musician Talk forum.

Could I get some more talent in the monitors, please?

I know it sounds crazy, but try to learn to inhale your voice. www.thebelcantotechnique.com
