  • The White Stripes - the beginning of me actually having a taste in music, rather than just listening to anything.
  • The Raconteurs - moving into more blues-y stuff.
  • Reef - got me where I am on electric guitar.
  • Scott Matthews - got me where I am on acoustic guitar.
  • Jamiroquai - the jazz and funk started here.

To be honest, I just wanted to do that to someone in this thread and just picked you without even reading your choices.

I'll never quite understand myself.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - My first "favourite" band way back when I first started appreciating music/actually listening to it properly.

Chevelle - Alternative/hard rock stuff such as Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Three Days Grace, Shinedown, etc.

Led Zeppelin - Got me into classic rock/dad rock. My dad had me dancing to Communication Breakdown at the age of 2.

Metallica - Led me into metal and thrash, and the generally heavier tunes in my collection .

Porcupine Tree - Got me into progressive music. This was actually mostly influenced by my dad, he introduces me to loads of prog bands, but I think it was this band that kicked it all off for me.
I shall grant you three wishes.

None of which will work.

Does the above post enrage, offend or confuse you?

Good.

I like my women how I like my guitars. Curvy and like it when I finger them.

AC/DC: don't even bullshit, you all loved them when you were 8 and although nowadays they're pretty boring, they're not cringe worthy like you hipsters make them out to be.

The Police: kinda the first softer-rock stuff I got into, still give them a listen every now and then, good shit son.

Sum 41: 'tis when I started listening to mainstream stuff, they were like Blink 182 without all the gay, I don't really listen to them anymore but I still have a soft spot for em.

Van Halen: hearing the tapping part in Hot For Teacher is what made me pick up the guitar, I thank them for that.

Metallica: inb4metalisstupid, fuk u smelly lonely hipsters, Metallica had their great moments and they got me into metal, don't really listen to em anymore but I still love em for introducing me to the genre.

A bunch of classic rock. Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, ect. This is when I was pretty young. That is what my parents listened to so that is all I knew for a while. I still like all of those bands.

Green Day: First band that really got me into music. Probably when I was in the 12-14 age range.

Rise Against: Nothing really to say about this one. I just really liked them for a while and they got me into more music that wasn't pop-punk like Green Day and Sum 41.

Avenged Sevenfold: I know most people here hate them, but I love them. They got me into guitar. I had played for a while before hearing them, but Syn's solos blew my mind and made me want to get so much better.

Protest the Hero: My favorite band (as most of you probably know ) They got me into pretty much everything I listen to right now; BTBAM, Animals As Leaders, The Human Abstract. Before them I had never listened to anything progressive, or really much metal to be honest.

I still love all of those bands.
