So... I'm in need of a new practice amp. One of a fairly cheap, but still good, quality (<$300. Go poor kid!).

I really like the Peavey Vypyr 75. I've tested it, and it's pretty good. Does what I need it to do.

Now, here's the question. I've been looking a the Pocket POD for.... ever, and was wondering if that would be an alternative. It's a lot cheaper, portable, but I have no personal experience with it.

So, UG. Tell me what to do.

Hell, even suggest other amps if you want to.

I lubs me some metal, so it has to have a nice metal sound (nice? Angry?).
Used or new doesn't matter.
Budget is <$300, willing to go up a LITTLE.

Please and thanks <3

If you're thinking about a pocket pod as a replacement for the amp, you could also think about getting a line 6 toneport. Its very similar, most likely cheaper, and with a bit of tweaking and creative knowhow (ie looking for premade patches on the internet), it will get better tones than most practice amps.
It does mean that you're tied to a computer though.

Pocket POD's are terrible, do not get one.

I apologize, but that comment is ass.

If you wanna bash something, elaborate. Tell me why.

Rather not just have an audio interface...

Though, I won't not consider it.
