Some way or another I always thought Ampeg Tube Amps were at least good then I tried the Jet 2... The cleans were nice but not stellar, as soon as I engaged a DS-1 it sounded like I was playing through a PA (you all know how a distortion pedal sounds through a PA), Horribly sounding!

Don't know much about amp circuitry bus I took a look at the guts and I do believe the amp is a hybrid.

Do I tried a lemon or is it how it really sounds? Or am I doing something wrong? xD

The amp just showed you what a DS-1 actually sounds like - total crap.

I think you don't understand, I tried that DS-1 through my Royal Atlantic and my Laney LC15R and it sounded ok, the sound on the ampeg was HARSH, sounded like buzz or something.

Like I said, it sounds like playing distorted guitar connected through a PA.

well that's ****ed up.

i usually have no trouble dialing in an ampeg jet.

a ds-1? not so much, that's just my experience.

then again, turning a j-12 to about 8/10 volume and using your guitar volume knob sounds better than a ds1 could ever hope to.

Some amps don't like some pedals... Most amps don't like DS-1s. I don't like DS-1s.

Ok... And like everyone said, that is a fairly well respected amp and a generally despised pedal. Its fairly easy to pick out the weak point. Why don't you take gregs1020's advice and crank the amp for some real overdrive?

That's not a shitty amp, and no matter how many times you repeat your experience you won't get us to agree about that.

Edit: Damn, you got me good.

I don't get the DS 1 hate, it sounds great through my MG.
