Just put Stereophonics on. They're not my favourite band but they are definitely awesome.

Any other bands that never seem to be anyone's favourite but everyone likes?
#2
I thought you meant really average bands. In which case maybe the Stereophonics would qualify?

How about Foo Fighters?
#3
Bob Dylan. I'll probably get flamed by some huge Dylan fan, but a lot of the musicians I know listen to Bob Dylan a fair bit, or at least respect the man (for good reason). However, I don't think I know anyone who can say Bob Dylan is their favorite
I'm just like the Jonas Brothers,

I'm no longer relevant and write mediocre music.

The Gaslight Anthem.

This is also one of the first bands that popped in to my head, but I didn't wanna post it in fear of that fan boy mod and his banhammer

Yeah, was gonna say the Foos. Also maybe QoTSA.

I don't like any of the bands listed so far

Oasis.
Really? Oasis are more of a love or hate band aren't they?

Also, Anathema - fairly appropriate in prog at least.

Any band that's not "the band" in a specific genre or a band that sounds LIKE a bigger/better band.

Oasis for example, a terrible version of britpop while most every other band in that "genre" managed to do it well, The Beatles, Stone Roses, The Smiths, The Libertines, Blur, Happy Mondays.

Oasis just failed.

If you have Oasis as your favourite band you have not searched far for better bands to be fair.

I don't think so. If someone plays some Oasis, I'm not gonna complain, but I wouldn't actively try to have it played at a party, bar, or even in my spare time doing nothing.

OT: Probably RHCP. I do like them, but I don't shit bricks when I listen to them. Just kinda meh.

You, good sir, have not gone over to your friends house after a hard night of drinking to find 2 dudes passed out in the same room both holding their own flaccid cocks in hand, passed out, with porn on the tv.

Failed what exactly? They're all minted and have a massive fanbase

This is such an opinion based thread. People are listing bands from all over the place because to them, they think, "Hmmm, I like this band okay but they're not my favorite nor are they the favorite of any of my close friends, so they must be middle of the road." If you step back and think about it, I guarantee every at least marginally popular band will have people that can say it's their favorite band.

Most people have never even heard of Anathema - and being doom metal sans their last two albums I'd say they're not exactly middle of the road.

Beatles and Foos were the first things that came to mind.

Oasis worse than Happy Mondays?? Come on, they're not that bad... They may be obnoxious but the first album is pretty decent musically

Stereophonics are actually awesome.
I had a great chance to see Kelly doing a solo acoustic set near where I live a few years ago, but didn't go

OT: Jimi Hendrix?
He gets a lot of fellating around these guitar websites, but no one seems to be a massive fan.
