Hey there everyone!

I have a Randall RH50 Head, and it's in need of new tubes. It runs 2 EL34's and 4 12AX7's. I just need some advice on how to get the tone I want out of this amp.

What I really want from this amp is a bit more headroom on the clean channel, as it seems to break up very early.

In my band, I play pop-punk, but I also play lots of metal in my own time, and this amp already has more than enough gain, so if I have to sacrifice some gain to get a better clean sound, that's fine by me.

For the Output get yourself some JJ EL34L tubes.
Find me a schematic and we can talk about preamp tubes. I need to know what they do regarding channel switching to really comment on how how to best go about it.

thanks the advice though, I was looking at JJ's seeing as they're also the cheaper option over here ^^

EDIT; just emailing Randall to see if they'll send me a schematic

+1 to the JJ E34Ls. Also, I just bought some JJ 6CA7s and tried them in my Mesa Stiletto. They are quite nice, a bit darker with more low-mids than the E34Ls. Might be another option if your amp is bright.
