Well, the obvious thing to ask would be: what gear do you have now and how do you like it?
You've read it, you can't un-read it!

We need more information.

We need to know:

Budget for the guitar
Pickups and configuration
Woods
Construction
Body style
Scale length
Neck profile
Bridge
Any other details that you would like

Budget for the amp
Preferred high gain tones
Features
Versatility
Power
Size
Cabinet
Any other details that you would like

Also:
Location
Willing to go used.

Nobody can give a decent recommendation until we know at least most of these aspects.

Violets are blue

or at very least, we'd need to know the type of metal you want to play
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
