I was watching a John Petrucci legato lesson on youtube, and there was a sound that I hear sometimes and it kinda bugs me A LOT.

The link would be:

The sound is at about 6:12-6:14

I wanna know how to stop doing that. It just happens sometimes, it's not that I'm just doing it all the time, it just happens.

He bended the string a bit before actually pulling off to let the next note sound making it go a little sharp for a fraction of a second.

Yeah, basically if you use too much pressure you bend the note slightly sharp before you get the pull off. With good control you can develop the ability to choose whether you want to hear that sound or not. (I quite like it sometimes )
