you can get a lot of different sounds out of one pickup, depending on all the parts of your equipment, (strings, guitar, amp, pedals) and also the way in which you play.

It doesn't sound to me like there is something wrong with the pickup... maybe more work needed to get the tone you're after...

I know i put brand new strings on right before and didnt stretch them

I also have a line 6 so that dosent help with the sound. and proabably ive been paying for a month so im not very good
