Hey guys, does anyone know any decent scales to play the sort of music you'd find in western films or games, for example 'The Good, The Bad And The Ugly' or 'Red Dead Redemption'.
Key gear:
Gibson Les Paul BFG Gary Moore (Lemon Burst)
Epiphone Les Paul Custom (Alpine White)
BC Rick Mockingbird ST (Red Quilt)

Phrygian is probably in there. Sounds like 'duel music'. Think a major scale but starting and ending on the 3rd note eg. start on E and play a scale with no accidentals (E F G A B C D E)

Hope this helps

One progression I like to use is:
Em - Bm - Fmaj

That, and variations thereof, do a nice job of getting that "western" sound.
