Hey.

Just bought this mic for acoustic guitar recording. http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_sc440_usb.htm

But it doesn't sound so good. When I turn the volume up I can hear background sounds, like those "windy" sounds if you know what I mean.

Is it suppose to sound that bad? In fact, the boult in mic in my Macbook sounds better.

I just found reviews in German.

But is my built in mic really suppose to be better than that one?

First off it's a vocal mic, not an instrument mic, 2nd, it's a usb mic, thirdly, you are not mixing it right.

I didn't mix it at all. Just recorded it.

Maybe I should return it, and buy a real one with a interface. Is it a big difference? Because I don't get the point with mic that's worse than the built in one.

You already have a thread open 3 below this one, where you've asked the same question. No need to make more than one.

You hear background noises because it's a condenser mic. They are extremely sensitive, and pick up everything in the room. If you're recording in a noisy environment, it's going to sound poor. Often, small amounts of noise will be unheard in a full mix, though.

The SC440 does seem to have a fairly low noise threshold.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.
