Hey ug sorry if this is in the wrong place but anyway what are some brands that are hated that you like and why? Personaly I love bc richs and squirts for the price they play great! I think the hate is caused by people who play them and expect that the cheaper models are going to play like thousand $ guitars. What about you
#4
People hate Squiers and BC Riches because they sound like shit compared to other guitars in the same price range. Like my Ibanez and my Washburn are both fairly cheap guitars but sound amazing, especially for being under $600

If you think a cheap BC Rich sounds good then you should just give up and send all the money you would put into guitar playing to me.

I hate the squirts too, man, and you're right - they ARE just like BC Richs - you'll get hit in the eye with one when you least expect it.

Squiers are amazing for the price. One of my friends who has a real strat, picked a squier and hardly tell the difference.

For the price their good I never said they were great. And I played a 80s strat and a squire and they played close to the same the pickups were just better in the fender

I have a Squier Jagmaster, and with a few little modifications (the stock bridge pickup was not very good IMHO), it's a guitar I would pick over some much more expensive guitars, and especially over anything that costs $350 (the total I've spent on it).

None at the end of the day all guitars are just dead trees. Give me anything with a low action and I'll shred. Although I guess Gibson is a complete rip, 5 grand for a custom Slash which he says "Is basically a regular Les Paul"

Like they say a poor carpenter blames his tools.

Exactly squirts and bc richs can be good guitars if your willing to do a little work like change the pickups and rewire them

I know what you meant, but your buddy suggesting that there's virtually no difference in feel and playability between an affinity Squier and a Fender US is just about as dumb as me comparing the obvious logo.

I think if you've actually played a Gibson and understand what goes into making them, your opinion will be rather different.

I was hoping this was going to be an in general Brands thread not just relating to guitars... but I hate fenders... I respect them for what they are but hate the hype... especially when you get a Fender vs Gibson war...

Sorry, man. I didn't mean to obliterate the mission. I'm sure if we buy him a nice gift, he'll come back. Maybe one of those awesome starter pack guitars...

i agree. i love my strat. but squires are not bad guitars at all. you honestly dont need a better guitar than a squire if you arent recording or touring/gigging.

I don't particularly like Fender and Gibson, I appreciate what goes into them but I can't get over the price. In fact, I don't really like a lot of mainstream brands. I think that you can basically transform many (not all) cheap guitars made with average materials into a guitar suitable for any type of music you intend to play. I paid $460 for my Lag Arkane 8 years ago, and it plays as well as any high end ibanez, gibson, fender, jackson I've ever played. I can only really fault the average pickups that were in it to begin with.

I'm sick of the price tag of a guitar being an indication of the skill of the musician (or their skill in choosing an instrument), which seems to be the way things work these days.

Also, I've come to realise how many jerks there are on this forum, buud9 included. Getting offended over the internet is like worrying about there being a duck looking at you through a telescope from the moon.

Doubt it, it wouldn't make me any better a player. The player makes the guitar. Paul Gilbert wouldn't sound like a beginner if you gave him a strat he'd sound like a shred Lord. I mean if the guitar makes the player how is Buckethead more technically proficient than Slash, when Slash's custom is 4.5k and Buckethead's is a mere 1.8k?

Or maybe I'm just the world's most versatile guitar player...
